Summarized from the CFP® Board's Practice Standards. cfp.net
I've seen firsthand how a child with special needs, while a blessing, can weigh heavily on a family. Decisions are harder. Focus is harder. Goal-setting, saving, and budgeting are harder, and the rules are more complex. My goal is to relieve some of that stress in your family's world of finance, tax, and investing. It starts with a free initial call to see what you need and whether I can help. Next is a discovery meeting, and it isn't like other discovery meetings. It's not just fact-finding. This is where I learn your personal values, what you hope to achieve, and your attitudes about money. Then we gather the facts, I build a preliminary plan, and we review it and make changes together. Once the final plan is delivered, we review it together and move into implementation. What sets my practice apart is that financial planning, tax preparation, and investment management all happen under one roof, built around the questions special needs families face: special needs trusts, ABLE accounts, government benefits, and guardianship. As a CFP® professional and Enrolled Agent, I can coordinate your plan and your taxes as a single strategy. Clients can expect a written financial plan and the security of knowing their family has one. We meet at least twice a year, in person or virtually, and I always pick up the phone. I am a fiduciary at all times. I don't earn commissions; I'm paid only by my clients for the advice I give. I offer flat-fee or hourly planning, or investment management with ongoing financial planning and tax preparation included for one annual price.
