Certified Financial Planners have a proven blueprint for success—but your planner builds it entirely around you.

Summarized from the CFP® Board's Practice Standards. cfp.net
We believe financial planning is an iterative process, and that you and your planner should treat your financial plan like a living document. We create your plan over the course of 4 to 5 initial meetings, getting to know you, your values, and your vision deeply as the basis for our work together. We analyze your cash flow, because how you spend should align with your values, vision, and priorities. We create scenarios for your life, so you can understand the upsides, downsides, what could cause everything to derail, or what could create a completely different future - all so you understand your options and your trade-offs. We also review your current documents for insurance, estate planning, and taxes, though we do not sell or create those documents ourselves. A thoughtful approach to planning requires a comprehensive review of all of the aspects of your financial life.
