Financial Advisor Overview

We serve our clients and their families as fiduciaries. A fiduciary is an individual in whom another has placed the utmost trust and confidence to manage and protect property or money. It is a relationship in which one person has an obligation to act for another's benefit. We are not beholden to sales agendas or proprietary products—rather, our partnership with HighTower gives us access to quality investment solutions from top firms and service providers. Our model enables our clients to benefit from competitive pricing, as well as a diverse selection of sophisticated products and services.

Financial Advisor Experience

For Lauren, family is the most important aspect of her life. Her husband, Andrew, is a minister downtown Birmingham. She is also the mother of three smart and brave daughters. To-date, she’s convinced two out of the three of her children that they should attend the University of Georgia, her alma mater. Growing up, Lauren’s family moved frequently because of her father’s career. This helped her understand that if you are going to know people and places for a short amount of time, it’s best to reframe the way you think about time. If you only have four years, what are you going to do to make a difference? She learned to understand people quickly—to ask the right questions and celebrate differences—as well as the value of committing significant time to community service, which she has done since the age of 15. In Birmingham, she serves on the board of directors for Cornerstone Schools of Alabama, the United Way of Central Alabama and the Alabama Planned Giving Council. While Lauren doesn’t have many mainstream hobbies, she is very interested in learning. She enjoys conducting research and feels that this intellectual curiosity is well-suited for her profession. To support this passion professionally, Lauren obtained her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certification. Lauren’s primary areas of focus include personal financial planning, asset allocation, portfolio construction and charitable gifting strategies for professionals and families. The hallmarks of these client relationships are trust, transparency and confidentiality. Lauren believes the impact of putting a thoughtful plan in place for the clients and families she works with will last for generations, and she understands the depth of this responsibility. For more than a decade, first at Merrill Lynch and now at HighTower, she has advised and crafted hundreds of planning scenarios, and this is what she hopes to do for the remainder of her career. It is deeply important to Lauren that she serves her clients and their families to the best of her ability. Humbled by the recognition that she has received, she was named one of Forbes 2018 “America’s Top Next-Generation Wealth Advisors” (#466), featured on the list of the Birmingham Business Journal 2017 “Women to Watch” and listed as a 2017 “Top Wealth Advisor Mom” for Working Mother magazine. Beyond her family and faith, her practice is her life’s work. She feels privileged to establish Somerset Advisory and serve families in both local communities and across the United States.
