Thomas Hutson is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and member of the Financial Planning Association. Serving clients at BST & Co. CPAs, LLP in Slingerlands, NY and the surrounding communities.

Financial Advisor Experience

Tom is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  Tom is also a CFP® certificant, approved by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. to use the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM mark.  He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and graduated summa cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany, in December 1987 and was admitted into Beta Gamma Sigma, National Business Honor Society.   
In addition to his years of experience in auditing and accounting, and financial statement and income tax preparation, Tom specialized in business valuation and forensic accounting and financial services beginning in 1994 and since 1996 has devoted essentially all of his time to these specialties.  He has extensive experience valuing privately held business enterprises and professional practices and other assets including enhanced earnings capacities and participant’s interests in retirement plans and executive compensation plans.  Financial forensic engagements have included support modification proceedings in divorce actions, the determination and quantification of unreported income and assets, the identification of abusive, improper, or unfair business practices, and other matters.  These valuation and forensic engagements were conducted for a variety of circumstances including estate and gift tax filings, charitable deduction substantiation reporting, matrimonial matters, oppressed or dissenting shareholder actions, arbitration, sales and acquisitions of business interests, insurance claims, quantification of economic damages, buy-sell agreements, and other purposes.
Additional divorce related services have included the development of lifestyle analyses, equitable distribution analysis worksheets, the determination of reasonable rates of return to be earned from investable assets, settlement negotiations, etc.
